MEALS THAT HEAL
Love God  Love People  Bring Hope

Meals that Heal started as an outreach to our community during the Thanksgiving holiday.  Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings we have received and a time for family gatherings.  It has become a holiday surrounded by food.  But there are many who do not have family around or a reason to make a meal since they feel alone.  We wanted to give families a reason to gather, and get closer and we chose food to do that.  The Bible admonishes us to gather and the early church met in homes and shared the word and a meal.

We have extended this ministry to the homeless community in one of our local parks.  They are also alone and at times don't have anyone to talk to.  We go out every Tuesday and distribute a meal to our homeless friends.  We have also given sleeping bags, tarps, clothes and shoes to those in need.  We are the hands and feet of Jesus and expect nothing in return.  We pray for our friends daily and lift their individual names in prayer.

If you  are led to help in any way, whether by giving your time or by donating  we would greatly appreciate it . God Bless you and we thank you for your prayers.

We are already raising funds for 2025 outreach.  We serve our homeless community by distributing food each Tuesday also to our homeless friends. We also serve the small community of Otay , in South Chula Vista each year at Thanksgiving time with a meal box which includes a frozen turkey and all the sides for their thanksgiving meal.

Can you help with this cause?  Help can come in the form of monetary donation, food donation, volunteering or praying for our cause.  Many have been touched from past distributions.  Lives have been changed.  Our mission statement of Love God, Love People, Bring Hope is very evident during this event.

Thank you for your time and consideration and God Bless you!

MEALS THAT HEAL 2024

For our Thanksgiving Outreach 2024 we fed 89 families and 481 people. Thank you to our donors we were able to make a difference and bring hope to our community.  In addition, we ministered to the homeless community every Tuesday starting March 26th.  We take water, a quick meal and snack and bring Jesus, our Hope, to our homeless friends (care package). We make a list each week of our friends names and pray for them daily.  We have distributed these care packages to 669 individuals from Jan 1, 2024 until Nov 30th 2024.  We will continue to do so the rest of 2024 and going forward. Many thanks to our faithful outreach team, and to those who pray and donate of their time and money each week.

MEALS THAT HEAL 2023

In 2023,  we fed 415 meals to our homeless friends.  We currently pick up food from a local elementary school and distribute it to individuals on the streets and families in need. This also included a hot Thanksgiving meal to aproximately 55 homeless individuals.  We also had goodie bags filled with snacks that were donated by the Jackie Robinson YMCA.  We had clothing and hygiene bags also available and we had  music and testimonies. Thank you to the 27 volunteers who showed up to serve on that day.

In addition, we distributed Thanksgiving meal boxes to 70 families (337 individuals)in the South Chula Vista, otherwise known as Otay area , which included a turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, rolls, and a dessert.

We also had a Christmas outreach which took place on December 23rd in Chula Vista. We served a hot meal along with distributing hygiene bags, and a wrapped gift for all. And lets not forget the hot cocoa and desserts.  Check out our facebook pages for more information or to volunteer for future events.

In 2022 we fed 360 meals to our homeless friends as well as taking their names down and praying for them. We offer Celebrate Recovery classes to them on Friday evenings and some have taken us up on the offer.

We also gave 75 families turkeys (which is about 370 individuals within those families) with all the sides the Friday and Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. Most of the families live in the community of Otay in Chula Vista 91911 and others are referrals from our local church family.

Meals that Heal 2020

We fed 91 families with Thanksgiving dinner boxes this year, which was about 511 people.  We were also able to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for our homeless friends at Harborside Park.  In addition we purchased sleeping bags and tarps for distribution, all thanks to our generous donors. This event is a blessing to all who give, receive and participate in the list making, visitations, and distribution the day of the event. I can't tell you how much of an honor it is to head this event and bring HOPE to others.  Thank you so much!!!
